Mustang,2 Jan 2014: Mustang, a hilly district in the western Nepal, has witnessed heavy snowfall for the third time in a month.
Torrential snowfall since 2:00 pm Thursday has thrown the normal life out of gear. Snow piled up to three feet in the district headquarters Jomsom, forcing the people to be confined in their houses, according to Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) Mustang office chief Bidur Kuikel.
Markets and industries have been closed and vehicles remained off the road. This is the third time the district witnessed heavy snowfall in a month. Electricity supply to the district has got disrupted since Thursday night after problems surfaced in a transmission line connected from Bhurung Tatopani of Myagdi. Mobile phone and internet services have been dysfunctional in the absence of electricity.
All parts in the district except Ghasa area suffered massive snowfall, the District Police Mustang said.
