‘Hello Doctor’ online medical service launched in Solukhumbu

Kathmandu, November 13, 2017: Everest Link Pvt Ltd on Sunday launched ‘Hello Doctor’ online medical service in Solukhumbu district.

The company has said that the service has been launched with a motive to convey the message to the world that Nepal is safe for mountaineering and trekking.

As the number of mountaineers and trekkers has been increasing with each passing every year, health risk is also increasing. To address the issue, we launched this online service. – Everest Link

The service will formally come into operation from November 15, and will be provided in association with Green City Hospital and Swacon Hospital of Kathmandu along with Khunde Hospital in Solukhumbu.

Through the Hello Doctor online service, mountaineers and trekkers can get connected with doctors to take advice or to get rescue. Domestic and foreign tourists, locals, guide and porters can take health advice directly from doctors using this service.

However, if the case is serious, the Himalayan Rescue Association will immediately evacuate trekkers and mountaineers. The wi-fi connection will also enable Everest Link to trace trekkers in case if they get lost in the Everest region.

The users of Everest Link’s wi-fi connection will have access to a medical emergency button on the login page. Trekkers and mountaineers can simply press the red alert button to call for help.
Pressing the red emergency button will automatically redirect phone calls to doctors, and trekkers and mountaineers can consult them about their medical emergencies. If the mobile phone of the dedicated doctor is busy, it will automatically connect to another doctor. – Chehen Lama, Chief Technical Officer, Everest Link

The company currently provides wi-fi services in Lukla, Phakding, Monjo, Namche, Shyangboche, Thame, Tengboche, Pangboche, Dingboche, Pheriche, Lobuche, Gorakshep, Gokyo and Everest Base Camp. The service is provided through more than 200 hotels, restaurants and tea shops in the Everest region.

Everest Link was founded in October 2014 with a view to establish high speed, affordable internet services in the remote areas of Solukhumbu district. The company works closely with Local Foundations like Namche Youth Group, Women Group and Department of National Park to provide information and communication facilities of the highest quality to the local people, visiting tourists/trekkers, government offices, schools and hospitals of the Himalayan region.
