Bhimduttanagar, 24 February :Â High alertness has been adopted against swine flu in the far-western development region in view of the possibility of it entering the country from across India.
The District Public Health Office (DPHO), Kanchanpur, has set up health desks at Gaddachauki and Belauri citing high possibility of the disease entering the country owing to the open border with India.
Senior Public Health Administrator at the DPHO, Dr Bal Bahadur Mahat, said that the health desks have been set up at both the border check points for conducting swine flu tests.
High alertness has been adopted in the region as hundreds of Nepalese and Indian nationals enter Nepal through the Gaddachauki check point every day.
Dr Mahat said there was possibility of transmission of the disease from an infected person coming from India as the disease has now spread to different parts of India.
Five people have been found infected from the disease in Nepal so far.
