Palpa, January 15, 2016: Nepali Congress (NC) central committee member Sujata Koirala has argued that the need of the hour for the NC is to elect a new and youthful leadership in the Party through the upcoming general convention.
NC, the biggest political party in the Legislature-Parliament and now the main opposition, is going to organize its 13th general convention from March 3-6.
At a press meet organized by Nepal Press Union, Palpa Chapter, leader Koirala, also former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, announced her candidacy for the Party’s president position in the next convention.
Koirala said that her candidacy was as a part of seeking an alternative leadership for the Party.
Advocating that the youths should come to the forefront in the Party, she asserted, “The new leadership should make economic development their prime agenda and give continuity to strengthening ties with immediate neighbors India and China.”
On the occasion, she also urged the concerned authorities to gear up towards the much-awaited local bodies’ election, due to be announced soon.
