Kathmandu, October 23, 2018: Himal Kandel is awarded the International Student of the Year in a ceremony at Government House.

Flinders University has announced the 2018 StudyAdelaide International Student Awards and this year international students have performed strongly.

Kandel along with his five other colleagues won the awards in respective categories. Kandel is from Nepal and has completed a PhD in optometry from Flinders University. He stated, “I have been enjoying the best time of his life in Adelaide, “. He has been undertaking research and collaborating with some of the most outstanding minds in his field.

Sebastian Raneskold, Vice-President and Pro Vice-Chancellor (International) at Flinders University said, “We congratulate Himal and all of our outstanding international students who have been honored by these awards today.”

The StudyAdelaide International Student Awards recognize students’ ability to manage their study-work-life balance and their community contributions. Many of this year’s winners, including Mr Kandel, also volunteer to give back to the community.

Flinders University’s strengths in international education have underlined an increase of 70% in international enrollments over the past four years, eclipsing state and national averages and seeing the University recently recognized through a Business SA Export Award.
