Kathmandu, 17 May 2015: Himalayan Disaster relief team of Yellow house have been working by keeping track of an inventory of resources, volunteers and information on what’s, where and who’s. They also been keeping track of resources of it’s food supplies, medical supplies, volunteers, linking different places where help is required with volunteers. Over 300 evacuated earthquake survivors who are living at the Langtang Survivors Camp in Kathmandu after avalanches and landslides severely damaged the eleven settlements in the Langtang Valley.

Since the road access is completely cut off, a team of volunteers  took a helicopter into Ghumthang, Sindhupalchowk . The team conducted mobile camps in Jyamling, Deurali, Ghalamsa, Dandagaun and nearby villages for 4-5 days and helping to coordinate supply delivery.Dawa Sherpa and a team of 5 (one doctor and four volunteers) set off on Monday armed with tarps from the UNHCR, medical supplies and a week´s worth of food to provide relief for 27 households in the hillside village of Sorthok, Dharchuk VDC, Chitwan.

Captureq1Meanwhile, Dr. Arzu Roshan provided medical care for 62 patients showing symptoms such as dehydration, headaches and diarrhea. Some of their supplies went to Rasuwa with the coordination of RASUWA RELIEF team to get relief supplies up to areas that have been inaccessible due to road blocks. Similarly, a team of volunteers went out to Satyadevi and Ree in Dhading and managed a successful distribution.

Educators, policy advisors, counselors, artists and volunteers meet at the Yellow House to share ideas on how to provide shock and trauma relief for the thousands of children affected by the devastating earthquakes. The most important thing in this critical situation is the self-respect of the affected people and communities needs to be renovated through meaningful community participation during relief works. Yellow house team is actively working since 13th May and till now they have already crossed 200th mission and they even have shown their enthusiasm to continue in the upcoming days too.
