Kathmandu,5 March 2015: Compared to the previous years, the celebration of Holi remained peaceful, harmonious and disciplined in the capital city this time.
It may be because of the effective security measures adopted or because of the growing awareness against the aberrations in the name of marking the cultural festival.
Spokesperson of the Metropolis Police Office, Kathmandu, Narayan Singh Khadka, said the commuters were hassled much for five to seven days before the festival day previous years. This trend remarkably reduced this year.
Similarly, Neha Shakya from New Road, Kathmandu, said especially the women and girls were targeted with lola (water filled balloons) in the past, but it was peaceful this time.
“This year, the Holi celebration was very peaceful, joyous and the security was also good,” she observed.
The revellers enjoyed the festival smearing different colours and exchanging greetings and happiness.
Similarly, the public transportation was not that limited which benefitted many.
However, police took under control 106 persons from different parts of the Kathmandu for violating traffic rule.
Reports have come from Pokhara as well that the festival was relatively peaceful.
