Kathmandu, August 22, 2016: Home Ministry has directed all 75 Chief District Officers (CDO) to stop syndicate in transportation sector with immediate effect.

Concluding that the transportation syndicate has caused spike in accident in recent times, the ministry directed the CDOs to take strict action against syndicate imposers, Home Ministry Spokesperson Yadav Prasad Koirala told.

“Those imposing syndicate in necessary services are criminals,” Koirala said. “We have given written directives to all 75 CDOs to bust all syndicates.”

The ministry has also directed all District Administration Offices to monitor transportation and other services on a regular basis. “We have asked all CDOs to monitor and submit report to us,” Koirala said.

The Ministry’s drive against syndicate has so far been successful and in short time all kinds of syndicates will be destroyed, he said.

Yadav informed that along with syndicate, cartels and peace disrupters too will be brought to justice.

The ministry has adopted policies to stop irregularities in transportation sector.

Not allowing vehicles to ply the road without route permit, taking action against vehicles that carry passengers above limit, stopping all old vehicles to ply the roads, not allowing any big vehicles to run on narrow roads are some of these measures.

Earlier, parliamentarians had demanded the government to bust transportation syndicate saying that it is the main cause of road accident.
