Khotang: Reconstruction of earthquake-destroyed homes, 357 Khotang families have received a lump sum amount before the post-quake reconstruction campaign kicked off.

According to National Reconstruction Authority District Project Implementation Unit Office, first-class non-gazetted officer Maniram Dhakal, families in Barahapokhari, Sakela and Diprung rural municipalities and Diktel-Rupakot-Majhuwagadhi Municipality, had received the first installment of the housing grant and aggregate amounts.

Around 1,200 beneficiaries had constructed their homes before the reconstruction drive kicked-off in the district, according to official data. Dhakal said-“We’ve started distributing the grant in aggregate after a procedure for the same was finalized towards the previous fiscal’s end. Similarly, of the 10,567 complaints related to reconstruction, we’ve resolved 8,602 by assigning engineers for the required survey.”

An engineer was spread out from May 3 to June 30 for surveys. According to official data,13,799 houses, 18 government buildings were damaged in the massive earthquakes 2015, while 55 others received minor damage from the jolt. The reconstruction of 265 schools started and the settlement in Dorpachiuridanda and Bijayakharka were underway.

Khotang has eight rural municipalities and two municipalities. 81% of the post-quake reconstruction has been completed in the district as per an estimate.
