Hult Prize Foundation Announces Hult Prize Challenge for 2019 and Hult Prize at IOE, Pulchowk Campus

Kathmandu, December 4, 2018: The Hult Prize Foundation has recently announced its annual Hult Prize Challenge for 2019 and Hult Prize at IOE, Pulchowk Campus which is the 3rd edition of its on-campus event for the students of Tribhuvan University (technical division). It is the quarter-final stage of the competition that is taking place on 16th December, 2018, from which the winning team will be fast-tracked to compete at one of the 16 Hult Prize Regional Finals around the world. They shall bypass the general application round which annually receives over 20,000 applicants from more than 350 colleges and universities in over 150 countries.

Students studying the technical streams offered by the Tribhuvan University are eligible to compete in the event where they will be required to pitch their start-up ideas in front of a panel of judges to earn their spot at the regional finals.

The Hult Prize Regional Finals will take place on March 2019 in all of the regional locations. Following the regional finals, one winning team from each host city will attend a summer business accelerator, where participants will receive mentorship, advisory and strategic planning as they create prototypes and set-up to launch their new social business.  A final round of competition will take place in September, where one team will be selected as the winner and will be awarded the US$ 1,000,000.

The Hult Prize is the world’s largest student competition and start-up platform for social good. Every year, student teams compete from all around the world for a chance to secure US$ 1 million in start-up funding to launch a sustainable social venture. The theme of the Hult Prize 2019 has been announced as “For Us, By Us: Solving Global Youth Unemployment”.
