Kathmandu, July 23: 73 year old, Mr.Balram Aryal, an educationist, a leader of the democracy movement and human rights defender, passed away on Tuesday.
Aryal, who actively participated in the 2006/07 People’s Movement and was seriously injured in course of that movement, had been suffering from abdominal cancer died while undergoing treatment at the Om Hospital, leaving behind his four sons and a daughter. He was cremated on Tuesday.
Aryal was the central treasurer at the Human Rights and Peace Society, the founder vice-chairman of the Avinav Literary Society and was also affiliated to different social organisations.
HURPES, the Avinav Literary Society and other organisations have expressed sorrow over Aryal’s demise, stating his demise has left a big void in the human rights and literary field of the country.
