Implementation of Odd-even Rule During BIMSTEC Summit

Kathmandu, August 27, 2018: The fourth summit of Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) is happening in Kathmandu on August 30 and 31. In the context of strengthening the security system, the Nepali Government decides to implement an odd-even rule on the vehicles for those two days.

Basanta Panta, Chief of Metropolitan Traffic Police Division said, “Both public and private vehicles are abiding by the rules for the event days. The implementation of the rule aims to ease for the guest arrival for the participation in the BIMSTEC summit.”

The odd-numbered vehicles will be allowed on August 29 and 31 whereas the even-numbered vehicles will be seen on roads on August 30 according to the rule. The three-day rule was decided as per the instruction of Home Ministry.
