Berlin, August 6, 2015: In an explosion in a chemical park in western Germany on Wednesday afternoon, eleven people were injured.
The city’s police spokesman told a tank sitting outdoors in a chemical park in Krefeld, a western German city near Duesseldorf, exploded at around 14:00 (1200 GMT) on Wednesday and caused a nearby building to collapse. He said that the cause of the explosion remained unclear.
The chemical park’s operator said that11 employees working in the park were wounded  and among them two were injured seriously in the accident.
The company said Titandioxid and nitrogen were detected at the scene and air pollution measurement was undertaken and found no danger to the neighbourhood.
Local residents were asked to close their windows though no smoke was seen above the chemical park. Sound of the explosion could be heard in Duisburg about 20 kilometers, local media said.
