India gifts 17 fire engines to Nepal


Kathmandu, August 25, 2016: The Government of India has gifted 17 fire engines to Nepal.

Indian ambassador to Nepal Ranjit Rae handed over the keys of the fire engines to Minister for Federal Affairs and Local Development Hitraj Pandey amid a program in Capital today. Later, Minister Pandey handed over the keys the Kathmandu Metropolitan City.

Addressing the event, Pandey said that the gifted fire engines would be of great help in dousing fire.

Likewise, Ambassador Rae also expressed that the support would minimize the damage caused by the incidents of fire. Out of the total 217 municipalities across the country, 71 have 101 fire engines.

Joint secretary of the Ministry Gopi Krishna Khanal said that due process was underway to purchase additional 34 fire engines.
