India provides financial assistance for Hydropower plant reconstruction in Jumla

Kathmandu, August 26, 2016: India has decided to provide a grant of NRs 26.37 for reconstruction and renovation of the Small Hydro power plant at Chandannathmunicipality in Jumla District amidst the signing of Memorandum of Understanding recently held in the district.

The Small Hydro Power Plant in Chandannath Municipality of the remote district of Jumla was built in 1983 by the Nepal Electricity Authority. However, the power plant suffered damage during the insurgency period and was operating at sub-optimal capacity resulting in frequent power cuts and electricity problems in the municipality. More than 20,000 people of the municipality will be benefitting after the reconstruction and renovation of the plant.
