Institute of Engineering, Thapathali Campus wins Inter-College Video Challenge 2018

Kathmandu, July 30, 2018: Team Stairclimbing Wheelchair from Institute of Engineering,Thapathali Campus grabbed worth Rs. 1 lakh as a winning amount of the competition on 30th of July, 2018 organized by PAC Asia in association with Macquarie University and designed by Glocal Pvt. Ltd.

The video with the concept to solve the problems faced by disablers while overcoming some architectural barriers such as stairs, curbs on roads, stairs in front of local shops, etc which was made by the team of 3 members: Sarozh Maharjan, Rupendra Aryal, Ramesh Kumar Shrestha won the competition.

30 teams from 15 colleges had submitted their videos in the theme- “Future Engineers Shaping Nepal” for the competition among which top 5 teams were shortlisted last week as:
1. Team Mech-minds from Institute of Engineering, Purbanchal Campus,
2. Team Zyaba Sqaud from Pulchowk Engineering Campus,
3. Team Stairclimbing Wheelchair from Institute of Engineering, Thapathali Campus,
4. Team Digixel Inc from Islington College and
5. Team Advanced from Advanced College of Engineering and Management.

Winner of the competition has been selected by the panel of jury as the evaluation criteria i.e.70% – idea, concept and content of the video; 30% – collection of likes in social media of their videos. The competition was for Engineering students of final year and Bachelor’s Degree holders from Kathmandu valley; During the event held at Hotel Mulberry, Country Manager South Asia of Macquarie International Mr. Riasat Hussain, shared – “All the innovative videos were impressive and we are happy to support them”
