Inter Child Club Cricket Tournament Kicks off in Nawalparasi

Devchuli (Nawalparasi), January 29, 2017: An inter-child club cricket tournament has started in Devchuli municipality of Nawalparasi on Sunday.

Being organized by the Shanti Dip Child Club, 10 different child clubs from Devchuli municipality are participating in the tournament.

Speaking amidst the inaugural ceremony, Dibyeshwori Rana, President of Shanti Dip Child Club said, “The main objective of the competition is to involve the children in various activities other than study. Also, as the municipality has accepted the child-friendly campaign, the programme is organized to inform about the same.”

Khimananda Bhusal, Child-Friendly Counselor of Devchuli municipality graced the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, Bhusal stressed that children should also be involved in various extra-curricular activities together with studying. He said that child-clubs need to host such activities on a regular basis, and added that the municipality and other people concerned on the sector should help for the same.

The inaugural session also saw the presence of the President of Devchuli Municipality Child Network, President of Youth For Change, General Secretary of Jagriti Child and Youth Concern Nepal, officials from Ward Citizen Forum, and members of various child clubs in the municipality.

Sudeep Kafle, coordinator of the tournament, has informed that only the children below 14 years are participating in the competition. He further said that all the rules and guidelines for the competition are made to suit children of that age group.

The tournament started with bowling and batting by the guests present in the programme.
