Devchuli (Nawalparasi), February 5, 2017: The inter-school football tournament organized by Divya Jyoti Youth Club has been concluded in Devchuli Municipality, Nawalparasi on Saturday.
Nepal Secondary School of Devchuli became victorious in the final match against the Gaidakot Namuna Higher Secondary English Boarding School with a 5-4 rout in tie-breakers, after the draw with 2-2 goals in an overly competitive match.
The tournament, for the students of up to the grade 8, saw the participation of 8 different schools in the district.
â€œAs the Child-Friendly campaign has been running in the municipality, football competition was held to inform about the same through sports,â€ said Dhundiraj KC, coordinator of the tournament. The competition is an initiation for the same, and will be continued in the coming days too, he added.
Handing over the trophy and cash prizes to the winning teams, Devilal Sapkota, executive officer of Devchuli municipality and also the chief guest for the ceremony, mentioned that the municipality is ready to assist in taking such programmes ahead. â€œThe municipality would play a special role to involve all the children in sports, and we are always positive for the same,â€ he added. He further mentioned that as sports help to instill discipline in children along with making them physically fit, the municipality in the upcoming year will be initiating various sports activities, and a budget would be allocated for the same.
