Kathmandu, May 12, 2016:Â International Nurses Day 2016 was observed today across the country organizing various programs.
A rally was taken out in the capital that was participated by hundreds of nurses, holding placards on their hands reading safe workplace for nurses, employment management and quality nursing service.
The rally went through Thapathali, Tripureshwar, Sahidgate and Bir Hospital and conversed into a corner meet at the Khulamanch.
Speaking at the event, former chairperson of the Nursing Association Nepal Sarala KC said that the attitude of Nepali society towards nursing field is still not positive.
She added that nurses are forced to go abroad as the quotas for nurses created at home are yet to be expanded.
Speaking at the meeting, secretary at the Ministry of Health Shanta Bahadur Shrestha pledged that reforms would be carried out in nursing service as per the government’s policy to provide access to health for all people.
