International Women’s Day 5 K Fun Run 2018: An event to inspire women in occasion of International Women’s Day

    Kathmandu, March 7, 2018: After three successful years of having organized women’s run on the occasion of International Women’s Day, MB Shrestha Memorial Foundation, FORD Nepal and Higher Ground-Nepal are set to organize the International Women’s Day 5 K Fun Run 2018 on March 10, 2018. The march will begin from St. Xavier’s School ground, Jawalakhel.

    The 5K fun run aims to celebrate International Women’s Day with the hopes of inspiring and empowering women and girls in the Kathmandu valley. With over 1000 participants and 200 community volunteers expected, this year, the organizers have made it inclusive of the men and boys as well. Men and boys are welcomed to cheer and volunteer on the day of the run.

    On finishing, American multinational automaker, Ford Motors, which has been lending a strong voice on empowerment of women inside their own institution, will also be supporting the run.

    The goodwill ambassador for the event is Miss Nepal 2010, Sadichha Shrestha, and recipient of Nepal Bidhya Bhusan Padak, who will be running with the participants and addressing them to boost their energy before the run. Many celebrities and renowned personalities from different walks of life would be joining the run. To make the event more exciting, a Zumba session would be led by professional Zumba trainer from Nitya fitness and dance studio.

    More than just the fun run, the event would include a list of partner organizations, who have been working to improve the socio-economic and political status of women in Nepal, will be showcasing their work and products on stalls in St. Xavier’s School Ground, Jawalakhel.

    Face painting and fun-filled games would be another attraction of the event which would be initiated by Heart Beat, an organization working in the field of street children.
