Kathmandu, August 25, 2016: Female Champions from the UNESCO recently organized a flash mob to celebrate the International Youth Week, in two different locations – a religious centre and a shopping mall – in order to involve people from diverse socio-cultural backgrounds.

The event sought to encourage Nepal’s younger generations to actively engage in triggering sustainable change within their communities, and to sensitize the general public on the Sustainable Development Goals.

Activities included SDG themed musical chair, balloon shoot outs, and singing/dancing competitions. The event playfully presented the Sustainable Development Goals – resulting both educative and entertaining. Female Champions, as well as the audience, expressed their views on what sustainable development is, and how Nepal can achieve it, with a particular focus on quality and girls’ education.

The theme of 2016 International Youth Day has emphasized the leading role young people can play in ensuring poverty eradication and achieving sustainable development through sustainable consumption and production.
