June 16, 2015: The world is all set to celebrate the first ever “International day of Yoga ”on 21st of june, 2015. It is a unique event which was approved by the United Nations general assembly with the highest number of co-sponsors, when proposed by the current prime minister of India, Narendra Modi and supported by Sushil Koirala, the prime minister of Nepal on the theme of peace and prosperity.

Human values for peace and prosperity (HVPP) has taken the lead in Nepal to mark the International day of yoga in a grand fashion by conducting Surya-Namaskar(Sun Salutations) with 100,000 people throughout the country. Participants will be performing SuryaNamaskar in various schools, organizations, open grounds, futsal grounds, party venues etc on this special occasion. HVPP is also organizing a grand session of 500 people to perform suryanamaskar in World Trade Center Tripureshwor including people from all part of life.

There are numerous benefits of Surya Namaskar as it helps to improve digestion, remain fit and energetic, increase gut feeling etc. Apart from the health benefits, this event also aims to bring the attention of everyone to education, which has been badly hit by the recent earthquakes. According to a report of UNICEF, 950,000 students may not return back to school due to the destroyed infrastructures and trauma. The theme of the event in Nepal is Support education in Nepal.

More than 100 schools and organizations have already agreed to perform SuryaNamaskar on 21st of june, celebrating the magnificence of Surya Namaskar and Yoga and to support education. The first ever international day of yoga will be marked in history as millions of people in 107 different cities throughout the world will be performing yoga on a same day.
