Jajarkot, May 27, 2015: After media reported about the financial irregularities at the District Development Committee Office the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) raided the office.
A team from CIAA Regional Office, Surkhet arrived and raided the DDC office and seized some documents.
Only after media reported about the Local Development Officer (LDO) Dirgha Bahadur Pokhrel randomly distributing the DDC budget of Rs 8.2 million allocated for Decentralized Rural Infrastructure and Livelihood Project (DRILIP), in the name of people’s participation and Rs 7.3 million in the name of maintaining and upgrading the local road in the district the action was taken.
As per the LDO Pokhrel Rs 8.2 million was distributed because he was directed to distribute the money by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Local Development.
Likewise under DRILIP to some people he had distributed the quotation of tens of thousands of rupees.Further the locals padlocked the DDC Office to protest his step claiming that it was the institutional abuse of authority.
