June 24, 2015: Joe Root hit 68 and Mark Wood took 3 wickets on his debut to help England win by 56 runs against New Zealand. England scored 191-7 with the help of Roots blistering innings and cameos from Alex Hales and Ben Stokes.

Chasing the total Kiwis lost Guptill in the first over but Brendon McCullum bludgeoned 35 from 15 balls giving Kiwis some hope but he was out when the score was in 40s. After the collapse of McCullum Willimason playes superbly for his half century but he was not supported well from other end.

Kiwis lost last five wickets in just four runs. This win will energize the English players before the ashes series starting from 8 July.
