Journalist Shahi among those killed in Doti bus accident

Dhangadhi, Oct 7: Journalist Karna Bahadur Shahi is among those who lost their life to the Doti bus accident occurred Monday.

 

The 30-year-old Shahi, a resident of Saraswotinagar-2, Doti, was the Dhangadhi correspondent for the Arthik Abhiyan national daily for a long time. He, also a publisher and an editor of Dhangadhi-based Lekhajokha Weekly, was on the way to the working station from his home after the Dashain celebrations.

 

Army personnel Nawaraj Bhatta of the Saraswotinagar-8, and Tek Raj Bhatta, 30, of the same locality who was a school superintendent in Kanchanpur, have also died in the accident.

 

Until this morning, the death toll in the accident has reached 29, the District Police Office Doti said.

 

A passenger bus with the registration number plate Na 3 Kha 5707 veered off the road and fell 300 meters down at Banlek of Chhatiwan VDC along the Budar-Jorayal section. The ill-fated bus was coming to Dhangadhi from Jorayal, Doti. Others 57 have been injured in the accident and are undergoing treatment in different hospitals. Of them, 20 are in critical condition.
