KAF Organized a Panel Discussion on ‘Nepal’s Forex Volatility and External Sector Risk’

Kathmandu, December 14, 2018: KAF ‘We Care’ team and Kusom Finance club has successfully organized a panel discussion on ‘Nepal’s Forex Volatility and External Sector Risk’ that was held in the conference hall of Kathmandu University School of Management on December 12, 2018. The event was completed in alignment with the theme of ‘We Collaborate’ where there was an active discussion from various dignitaries. 

The panel discussion was attended by 180+ audiences which comprised students and faculties from KUSOM as well as students from other colleges of the Valley. The honorable dean of Kathmandu University School of Management, Prof. Dr. Bijay KC started the discussion by introducing the scenario of Foreign Exchange Reserve and impact of its volatility on a different sector of the economy.

Honorable Dr. Achyut Wagle was the moderator with Mr. Chintamani Siwakoti, Forex, and ex-deputy governor Mr. Krishna Bahadur Manandhar, Sanima Bank’s Treasury Front office head Mr. Bhibhor Jha and entrepreneur Mr. Sabin Joshi as the panelist.

The panelists presented their knowledge on the issues like sustainability of major sources of Forex Income, Current Scenario of Forex reserve, Nepal’s Forex Management experience and challenges and risk management in Nepal’s Forex Portfolio. A short queries session spiced up the discussion where panelists addressed sensitive issues like trade deficit, how the government is planning to deal with such huge drain of capable labor to abroad, Indian currency peg to name a few.
