25 March,2015: Bollywood actress Kangana Ranut is thrilled on being honoured with the Best Actress 62nd National Award for her performance in Vikas Bahl’s ‘Queen’. The curly-haired diva who just turned 28 on Monday (March 23) says that the award is the best birthday gift she could ever hope for.
In an interview with Time Of India, Kangana Ranaut says that the big win took some time to actually sink in. “I was in a state of flux all morning. I could neither sit, nor stand nor shoot. My entire concentration had gone for a toss. I was wondering what to do with that piece of information I had heard over the phone. I kept wondering whether it was true, false or whether my ears were just ringing. Anyway, by noon messages came and then the reality of it all sunk in. Wow, what do I say? I’m happy, elated, over the moon and thank everyone who believed in me.â€
The actress won great critical and commercial acclaim for playing the role of Rani (Queen) in the film, which tells the tale of a traditional Indian girl who has been dumped at the alter, leading to her own beautiful journey of self-discovery and independence with a Europe trip.
Kangana says she was least expecting the National honour. “Someone from my team told me that there were chances that I may win the National Award for Queen. Of course I didn’t give it too much credence at that point because I did not know that the National Awards were due to be announced on Tuesday. Nor did I, in my wildest imagination, think I would be the lucky recipient of the award,†says the actress.
Kangana Ranaut also won a National Award for Supporting Actress in Madhur Bhandarkar’s ‘Fashion’. She will next be seen in ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’.
