Kathmandu, May 15, 2018: The reconstruction of Kasthamandap temple will be completed within the next three years. Minister for Tourism and Aviation authority said at the inauguration ceremony of the historical Kashtamandap temple of Basantapur that was damaged during the 2015 earthquake has started on May 15, 2018.
Rabindra Adhikari, Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, inaugurated the reconstruction of the historical temple after a kshyama puja (prayer for forgiveness).
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the minister said that the reconstruction of the temple would be completed within three years and other monuments including Dharahara and Ranipokhari will be reconstructed within some years from now.
Kathmandu Metropolitan City has taken the responsibility of the reconstruction and hopes to complete the reconstruction by the initiation of Nepal Tourism Year 2020. Bidhya sundar shakya, Mayor at KMC, will be heading the reconstruction process and look forward to coordination from the local people.
In the past three years after the earthquake, the reconstruction process could not take off as there were differences between the authorities and the local residents over the modality, intervention by the locals and the slow bureaucratic process among others.
