June 2, 2015:  According to the Restaurant operator KFC, it has  filed a lawsuit against three companies in China on Monday whose social media accounts spread false statement about its food, including that its chickens have eight legs.Â
KFC said  it filed case against those companies fore spreading fake news on social media. The spread-ed rumor was that the chicken used by KFC has six wings and eight legs and they are genetically modified. According to the Chinese KFC website they rumor spreaded is fake.
According to KFC they are demanding 1.5 million yuan ($242,000) to each company for apology. In a statement by KFC’s China CEO Qu Cuirong ” it is hard for them to protect their brand against those rumor’s and its getting difficult for them to collect the evidences.
Shanxi Weilukuang Technology Company Ltd., Taiyuan Zero Point Technology Company and Yingchenanzhi Success and Culture Communication Ltd. in Shenzhen city sued against KFC. When calling to the number of those companies it says invalid or goes unanswered.
The campaign was launched two years ago to clean up the rumors spreaded online. KFC has 4600 restaurants in China.
