“Khudkila-Step to Innovation” STEAM Challenge is going to be organized on 4th of Falgun 2076 (16th February 2020). The programme will starts at 10 AM onwards at Kantipur City College, Putalisadak, Kathmandu.

Innovative Ghar Nepal (InG Nepal) is organizing the nation-level event intending to arouse the curiosity among the children from the school level background about robotics and other technology and to uplift their interest.

Innovative Ghar Nepal (IngNepal) is a Non-profitable and Non-governmental organization of Nepal working for children and youth for their involvement and enhancement in technical education. It provides an interactive space/place for the innovative students to come together to promote, educate, explore, create and share their curiosity.

Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Barshaman Pun ‘Ananta’ is scheduled to inaugurate the one-day event innovatively. Managing Director of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Kul Man Ghising will grace the event as a guest of honour.

Khudkila-Steps towards Innovation STEAM Challenge is a platform for students to engage in solving problems and foster scientific and logical thinking skills based on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

STEAM Challenge is a time-bound, problem-solving oriented event that encourages students to be innovative. Although the event is being held in Kathmandu, robotic enthusiast children from all over the nation can participate in it.

We have chosen the theme of the event to be ‘Hydropower’ (water) and also two out of four sub-events in “Khudkila – Steps towards Innovation” is based on electricity generation by Hydropower plants. The arena for the competition is designed in a way to give the overall overview of hydropower to the student. It contains all the basic components of hydropower ie: Dam, Penstock pipe, Turbine House, Generator House, Transmission switchyard and Hi Tension Pole.

The event can be viewed as an “A tribute to our Nepal government and it’s line ministry and the concerned officials who have contributed directly and indirectly to make Nepal – A Load Shedding Free Nation” which subsequently led to enabling a favourable environment for round the clock electricity supply benefiting all the people in the country under the ambit of electrification, especially the students for their studies.

More than 1200 visitors are expected in the event where over 300 participants especially robotics enthusiast students from over 20 schools and robotic organizations are participating. They will showcase their talents/skills in robotics through their various inventions, creations and through robotic competitions to be held during the programme.

The event is categorized into two portions: Robotics Competition and Exhibition. The robotics competition will have two sub-events: manual and automatic robotics competition while the exhibition will also have two sub-events: themed and open exhibition.

We, as an organizer, believe that through this event, the tech enthusiast children can get a platform to explore and express their talent. Students, who are the future manpower, need constant motivation and in the context of changing times, they should be armed with adequate information about the ever-evolving technologies. This event aims to cater to those inquisitive students who are always eager to expand their knowledge about technology and seek to build their career in the technical field.
