KathmanduÂ 11 October 2015: Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli Â is elected as 38th prime minister ofÂ Nepal. He received 338 votes in the prime minister election in the parliament defeating the 37th Prime Minister Sushil koilara. He is the chairman of Communist party of Nepal(Unified Marxist-Leninist)
He was elected as leader of CPN-UMLÂ Parliamentary Party in the second constituent assembly on February 4, 2014, defeating party chairman Jhala Nath Khanal by a vote of 98 to 75.Â He won the Jhapaâ€“7 seat in theÂ 2013 Â constituent assemblyÂ election as a CPN-UML candidate. Oli is well known for his humorous similes and one-liners.
He was the Home Minister in the AdhikariÂ cabinet. He became the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs during the interim government in 2006.
He was unable to complete his formal education due to his involvement in politics. However he has keen interest in reading books on political philosophies and literature.
He was elected to theÂ fromÂ JhapaÂ inÂ 1991,Â 1994Â andÂ 1999Â on a CPN-UML ticket.Â He contested and won from two constituencies in the 1999 election and gave up his Jhapa-6 seat. He lost the 2008 Constituent assembly election.
