Kathmandu, August 16, 2017: Placement Cell of Kathmandu University School of Management (KUSOM), on Tuesday organized a job and internship fair at the college premises, Balkumari. The fair is an annual event which acts as a bridge between the academic world and industry.

Hundreds of BBA and MBA students of KUSOM could be seen networking with business owners as well as applying for internships and jobs in companies that participated the fair. As many as 33 companies including Chaudhary Group, Unilever Nepal, Morang Auto Works, Vaidya Group, Panchakanya, Kathmandu Guest House, and Deurali Janta Pharmaceuticals among others participated the fair.

“Our major aim of conducting this fair is to provide immense networking opportunities to our deserving students. Though such job fairs are not new things to the world of business around, it is still quite rare in Nepal,” shared Roshee Lamichhane Bhusal, Lecturer and Placement In-charge at KUSOM.

Since its inception in 2011, the event has received overwhelming responses every year. What’s more?  The students themselves coordinate, manage and volunteer to make this event successful.

“This fair gives students a platform to connect with the company of their choice, and also provides employers an opportunity to explore the outstanding pool of KUSOM students. It aims to reap maximum benefits from the blend of both the corporate and the academic world in the country. We believe that along with course work, these programs are very important to bridge the gap between companies and human resources in the business sector,” mentioned Nidip Pant, Vice-Coordinator and Secretary at KUSOM Placement Cell.

The students seemed quite optimistic about the program and believed it helped them groom.

Pritika Lama, an MBA student at KUSOM and a participant of the fair, expressed, “I applied for three companies in the fair, and I could see my confidence level rise from the first interview to the third one. Thanks to this encouraging platform.”

Not only the students but the companies too seemed overwhelmed to meet the energetic students aspiring for jobs and internships.

Bikash Acharya, HR Chief at Panchakanya Group, was highly impressed with the confidence level of the students. Similarly, Amit Sharma, Head of HR at Laxmi Bank, stressed that all the students should be very clear about their career choices before applying for a job. “We look forward to similar fairs in future as the events like this are an opportunity for us to meet vibrant minds and in addition, provide some counseling to students who needed proper guidance for their careers,” shared Bharat Sunam, HR Manager at CE Construction.
