Kathmandu, June 9,2015: Last tribute was paid toÂ Warrant Officer 2, Basanta Bahadur Titara by theÂ Chief of the Army Staff Gaurav Shamsher Rana . NA had organized a condolence programme at its No 11 Brigade at Tribhuvan International Airport for the same.
FromÂ May 2, 2000Â Titara was serving in the NA, and was recently servingÂ at the Yuddha Bhairava Battalion. The dead body of Titara is handed over to his father Purna Bahadur Titara and is to be taken to his birthplace Shikhar VDC-2 of Darchula district.
At Ghorthali of Sindhupalchowk district on May 12Â Titara was killed in a US helicopter crash. In the accident, five civilians, two NA personnel and six US army personnel were killed. As the helicopter was mobilized for rescue and relief operation in the quake affected areas.
Accordding toÂ NA source it wasÂ delayed to handover the dead bodies to the families of the deceased as the mortal remains were found in scattered condition at the accident site and DNA tests needed to be carried out.
High level NA officials and US Charge d’ Affaires Patricia MahoneyÂ were presentÂ Â at the tribute-paying programme.
