Kathmandu, Aug. 7: Lawmakers, speaking at the start of the Legislature-Parliament meeting today condemned the incident of rape of a woman in a public vehicle on Wednesday when she was travelling from Rukum to Nepalgunj.
The lawmakers demanded searching for the culprits and life imprisonment to them. They strongly voiced that the culprits should not be let off the hook.
The MPs who spoke in the meeting called for taking strict action against those convicted of rape, including life imprisonment, and enacting laws to that effect if the existing one was inadequate for that purpose. They said as per the police investigation the woman from Rukum was raped by Ajit Sunar and Sohan BC and demanded immediate action against the rapists.The lawmakers also urged the Home Minister to become strong enough in initiating maximum punishment against such barbaric men, saying the women have been constantly been facing such atrocities as rape and sexual harassment.
