Leaders: New Constitution To Be Drafted Soon

Kathmandu, June 9: New constitution is declared to be drafted soon with the country moving forward ‘politically’, according to The senior leaders of the major political parties terming the agreement historic.

Nepali Congress senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba regarding the occasion said that the consensus among the parties had propelled the country forward ‘politically’ and that a constitution was now likely. Deuba said that he cannot tell, but a national unity government will be formed when he was asked if the national unity government would be formed before or after the Congress’ General Convention.

Similarly, CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli said that a national unity government would be formed by mid July.
He further said that the parties had shown flexibility from their respective sides while adding that his party had abandoned its earlier stance on the number of provinces to facilitate a consensus . The UML had been taking a posture on minimal number of provinces and had made it clear it could only accept six provinces at the maximum.

Like wise, the political deadlock had been unraveled and that the agreement had paved the way for a new constitution, UCPN (Maoist) Vice Chairman Narayankaji Shrestha said. He stated that they want to give the whole of the country a constitution and a message to that effect has been conveyed.
