Kathmandu, April 27, 2016:Â Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has called on the political parties to compete in deploying volunteers in post earthquake reconstruction campaign.
At a programme organised here today to bid farewell to engineers deployed for reconstruction task, Prime Minister Oli said that it was necessary to prove that Nepalis are really hard working and brave.
He said, “I urge one and all to go in the villages and involve in reconstruction task for a month. Let’s all political parties compete in number of cadres for deploying in reconstruction task.”
Urging the engineers to be deployed with new responsibilities to carry out works as ‘Devdoot’ or god’s messengers, among the quake survivors, the PM stressed the need of deploying an engineer along with 10 volunteers for the same.
PM Oli, also the chairman of the CPN (UML), said that his party has mobilized volunteers in ratio of 30,000 everyday till a month.
He said, “Any country is build only after the wish of the people of the respective country. No one comes to build other’s country. We should involve in reconstruction task in order to show to the world that we can.”
Urging the engineers to inform him and help if there is hunger in quake-hit districts, Prime Minister Oli said that no Nepali should die of hunger. Government is always with them.”
Over 1300 engineers deployed
The National Reconstruction Authority has deployed a total 1,347 engineers and the same number of sub engineers for reconstruction under the Ministry of Urban Development, said secretary at the ministry Dipendra Nath Sharma.
The engineers were selected among 3,000 applicants for the position.
Sharma said that each engineer is deployed for each quake-hit VDC.
He said that the engineers will help with the distribution of subsidised money to quake survivors, apart from providing advice in drawing design of house buildings to be reconstructed.
Meanwhile, State Minister for Federal Affairs and Local Development Kunti Kumari Shahi and State Minister for Ministry of Urban Development Manju Kumari Chaudhary wished them a success.
Executive Director of the authority Sushil Gyawali said that the deployed technicians would carry out their task effectively as the quake victims are awaiting them for the reconstructions.
