Kathmandu,7 Feb 2015: The 113th birth anniversary of Bal Krishna Sama, one of the pioneer dramatists of the country, was marked here Saturday by organizing different programmes.
The Nepal Academy and Nepal Education Council organizing a condolence assembly offered floral tribute to Sama’s statue at Academy and at Kamalpokhari.
Lauding the contributions of late Sama in various genres of Nepali literature, Rastra Kavi Madhav Prasad Ghimire said Sama’s writings helped a great deal in maintaining social justice and equality in the society.
On the occasion, Ganga Prasad Uprety, the Chancellor of Nepal Academy, echoing with Ghimire opined that the literary pieces of Sama had not only catapulted Nepali literature but also inspired a social transformation.
Sama was a poet, dramatist and an accomplished painter, three rolled into one person, commended Chancellor Uprety.
Likewise, Sarubhakta, the Chancellor of Nepal Music and Drama Academy underscored the need to acknowledge Sama’s contributions in fine arts, literature and drama as a common pillar.
Chancellor Sharubhakta also expressed his commitment that the Academy was ready to organize various programmes in Sama’s honour.
Member-Secretary at Nepal Education Council Rama Sharma and Prof Dr Abhi Subedi urged the new generation to internalize Sama’s ideals of patriotism and human rights with social goodwill that he expressed in his literary creations.
