Darchula, Jan 19: Local youths are found eager to start enterprises after they got financial and technical support from the government.
The government has provided grants for such businesses targeting the youths in almost every VDC in the district. However, the programmes need monitoring from the respective bodies.
The grants were provided under the Youth Self Employment Programme in agriculture and livestock sectors. The government provides Rs 40,000 to a single selected applicant under this programme.
As many as 200 youths have submitted applications in the District Agriculture Development Office for mushroom and vegetable farming this year.
Though the grants were provided for vegetable farming since last year, it is extended to mushroom farming from this year, said officer at the DADO, Bishram Chanda.
