Locals Demands 35 Per Cent Share In Bhotekoshi Hydro Projects

Chautara, Nov 1,2014: Leaders and cadres associated to different political parties organized protest programme demanding that the people affected by the Bhotekoshi Hydropower Project be provided with compensation and at least 35 per cent share in the project.

The villagers led by the local leaders and cadres of the different five political parties including CPN (UML), UCPN (Maoist), RPP, RPP Nepal warned of disrupting the power production at the project if their demands were not addressed.

Lawmakers of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party Ramesh Kumar Lama, central member of the CPN (UML) Arun Nepal, and UCPN (Maoist) leader Saral Sahayatri, among others, said there was no alternative of providing share to the locals as it has been done in Chilime Hydropower Project.

The project constructed jointly by Harja and Panda Energy Companies has been producing 36 MW of power since 2002.
