Local’s Expressed Happiness After The Runway Was Blacktopped In Khotang

Khotang, July 12: Locals in the Khotang district were happy to know that the Khanigaun Airport, one of the three airports in Khotang district, has started to operate flights six days in a week after the runway was blacktopped.

Airport construction and users’ committee chairperson Durga Prasad Ghimire said regular flights except on Fridays have started after the runway of 590m length and 20m width was blacktopped recently. In the previous years, the flights to and from the airport used to be halted during the rainy season.

Nepal Airlines, Tara Air and Simrik Air resumed the flights to and from the Khanigaun Airport, the nearest airport from the district headquarters Diktel.

Nepal Airlines operates flights on every Wednesday and Sunday from Kathmandu and to Biratnagar on Wednesday and Saturday, Ghimire stated. Similarly,Tara Air operates flights on Tuesday and Saturday while Simrik on Monday and Thursday. Other airlines are also preparing to operate flights to and from Khanigaun, Ghimire added.
