Manang Marshyangdi Club bags Jhapa Gold Cup

Jhapa, February 6, 2017: Manang Marshyangdi Club (MMC) has won the second Rumpum Jhapa Gold Cup Football Tournament, defeating the hosts Jhapa-XI Club with 1-0 here at the Domalal Stadium in Birtamode today.

With this, MMC has hat-tricked the titles of this season. The team had won Aaha Rara Gold Cup within 2 weeks of winning the Khaptad Gold Cup on January 15.

In a high tempo match between the two powerhouses, MMC broke the deadlock on 63rd minute of the match when Olawale Afeez hit a goal. The goal itself became decisive for the match, making MMC the winner of the tournament.

With this victory, MMC bagged Rs 700,000, while the runners-up Jhapa-XI received Rs 350,000 along with trophies.

Nirajan Malla of MMC was declared the man-of-the-match and received Rs 7,000 cash prize.

Similarly, Rohit Chand of MMC itself was declared the most valuable player of the tournament and received a motorbike, sponsored by Sayapatri Trade Link Birtamode.

Karna Limbu and Devendra Tamang of Jhapa Club became the high-scorers in the tournament, and received Rs. 15,000 each.

Similarly, Devendra Tamang of Jhapa was announced the Best Defender. He too got Rs. 15,000 cash prize.

Ranjit Shrestha of Jhapa itself became the best mid-fielder, and bagged Rs. 15,000, whereas Ekal Neupane of Jhapa was declared the best goalkeeper. He was awarded with an Android smartphone worth Rs 15,600.
