Kathmandu, June 6, 2018 : The Medical Education Commission( MEC ) is planning to limit the number of scholarship seats provided to medical colleges this year.
The Commision sent a letter to Nepal Medical Council( NMC ) stating it will be allocating scholarship seats in medical colleges for the upcoming academic session.
According to Laljung Chauhan, Secretary at MEC, the letter explained that the commission will allocate the number of scholarship seats as per the articles and sub-articles in the National Medical Education Ordiance. A copy of the letter was also forwarded to the Institute of Medicine, Patan Academy of Health Sciences, Patan Academy of Health Sceince, BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences and Kathmandu School of Medicine, he added.
The Medical Education Commision is an independent body, which is responsible for making policies regarding the letter of intent, affiliation and scrapping of affiliation of medical colleges and to monitor irregularities in the medical field and to help assure quality in medical studies in the country.Prime Minister is the Chairman of the Medical Education Comission.
