Melamchi water will reach Kathmandu Valley in six months

Chautara, September 24, 2017: The Melamchi Drinking Water Development Committee has stated that it will be able to supply drinking water to the consumers in the Kathmandu Valley within six months.

As the digging of tunnel for supply of the water remains for 1.7 kilometers of length, it is expected that the work would be completed in six months, according to the Committee.

The committee’s Deputy Executive Director Ramakanta Duwadi has said that some 16 meters of tunnel has been dug in a daily basis from four different places.

The tunnel digging for altogether 27.5 meters from Ambathan Muhan of Helambu to Sundarijal is expected to be completed by December, shared Duwadi, adding that around 94 percent of the work relating to tunnel digging has been completed so far.

Likewise, work on preparing the detailed project report of Larke and Yangri projects at Panchpokhari Thangpal rural municipality in Sindhuplachok district would be completed within the next four months.

The Kathmandu Valley will get as much as 170 million liters of water on a daily basis from the Melamchi River of Sindhupalchowk district.
