Kathmandu, 2nd January, 2015 : The Nepal Civil Servants Association today submitted a memorandum to the Constituent Assembly Chairperson demanding promulgation of a worker-friendly constitution in the scheduled date.
The Association handed over the memo to CA Chair Subas Chandra Nembang at the CA building in Naya Baneshwor.
The employees have urged the political parties to rise above party interest and draft a new constitution in understanding, and with unity and agreement.
In the memo, it is stated that the parties’ dalliance in drafting the constitution as per the aspirations of the people is irresponsible and that the constitution must be promulgated on the stipulated date mindful of the future of the country and the Nepali citizens.
After receiving the memorandum, CA Chair Nembang urged the parties to come to an agreement on the contentious issues of the constitution at the earliest.
He suggested the parties to provide the CA Chair with an alternative to deliver the draft of the constitution on the scheduled date.
Nembang underscored the need to at least present the draft of the constitution on time as per the commitment made by the political parties and the sentiments of the Nepali people.
The Association had taken out a rally from Babarmahal towards the CA building to submit the memorandum. The employees chanted slogans that include timely constitution, worker-friendly constitution and fulfillment of the parties’ commitment made to the people.
Association Chairman Punya Prasad Dhakal demanded timely constitution embodying provisions for good governance, social security and respect to labour.
