Bhaktapur,19 October 2014 : Minister for Industry Mahesh Basnet has admitted that it was a folly of CPN (UML) for its stance for Home Ministry during the formation of the government.

Felicitating some 50 students who scored highest marks in SLC examinations at a progamme organized by Silpakar Samaj Nepal in Bhaktapur today, Minster Basnet opined that the party should have instead claimed the Ministries that directly concern with the people and runs the development works.

Stressing on the need for his party to introduce new plans and programmes benefiting citizens directly, he said that the party has not achieved any remarkable feat albeit few achievements and momentum gained during the leadership of Manmohan Adhikari in 2051 BS.

He also appealed the private sectors to run industries in the rural areas at their own initiation rather than relying on the government so as to develop and expand the industries across the country. “The government will take care of the necessary infrastructures for it,” he propelled.

At the programme, the Society submitted a memorandum to the Minister demanding exemption of VAT in timber and levying less tax on Nepali furniture in compared to Chinese and Indian furniture.
