MINISTER NIDHI SAYS PUBLIC AWARENESS NECESSARY TO FIGHT UNTOUCHABILITY

Bimalendra Nidhi, Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, has stressed the need of ending existing social malpractices based on gender and caste-based discrimination. Launching the ‘Dalit Rupantaran’ a quarterly magazine, published by Nepal Dalit Association close to the Nepali Congress, marking the birth centenary of BP Koirala here today, he laid emphasis on public awareness to eradicate such practices practically.BP was the first leader who took the best step for social transformation in the country, Minister Nidhi said.

He suggested the Association include the issues of other communities in the bulletin.  Congress central member and Constituent Assembly (CA) member Min Bishwakarma pledged his best for drafting a new constitution on time. Bishwakarma, also the chairperson of Association, sought collective efforts from Dali leaders, CA members, Dalit organisations, civil society and human rights activists for ensuring dalit rights in the constitution.
