Kathmandu, 8 March, 2015 : Minister for Information and Communications Dr Minendra Rijal has said that journalism would be further effective with the implementation code of journalistic ethics.
Inaugurating a three-day training for trainers (TOT) on code of journalistic ethics organized by Press Council Nepal today, Minister Rijal added that abiding by the code of conduct makes journalism profession and expression of freedom stronger.
He added that Ministry’s workload would be narrowed down if the media persons were conscious on the ethics and follow the code of conducts in practice.
Similarly, Press Council Nepal Chairman Borna Bahadur Karki said that new challenges have surfaced along with the development of journalism sector. He said such training would help make the profession trustworthy and well-managed.
Similarly, chairman at the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) Dr Mahendra Bista said journalists should follow the code of journalistic ethics as it was closely associated with journalism.
A total of 53 journalists are participating in the training. Following the training, the trainers would organize such trainings in all districts.
