Kathmandu, June 26, 2018 : National Nursing Council(NNC) has directed all the nursing institutions in the country to allocate 15% of the total seats for male candidates from the upcoming academic session.

The council has issued a public notice stating its decision to allocate 15% of the total seats to male candidates from the upcoming academic session.

The decision was made by the council following a meeting on 19th of June at the headquarters of the council at Bansbari, Kathmandu. The meeting was followed by a public notice addressing the nursing education institutions to allow enrollment of male candidates into Proficiency Certificate Level (PCL) and Bachelors’ level of Nursing education.

The council made the decision to allow male candidates to enroll in the medical institutions to pursue nursing programmes in line with the country’s policy of main-streaming gender equality in every sector of the country. Male candidates can apply for and get admitted in the nursing education from the upcoming academic session. However, medical institutions can enroll girls in the vacant seats if the of male candidates is below the allocated quota.
