Student union demand for uniform fee structure

Kathmandu, April 11, 2018: Three major political parties affiliated students unions submitted a memorandum demanding uniform fee structure in all private schools to Bidya Sundar Shakya, Mayor of  Kathmandu Metropolitan City on April 10.

According to the memorandum, it was the government’s responsibility to make sure of free education to all but the private schools were charging unreasonable fees and they also requested KMC to set a uniform fee structure for all private schools and end imbalance in the education division.

The memorandum was submitted by student leaders of CPN-UML affiliated All Nepal National Free Students Union, CPN-Maoist Centre’s All Nepal National Independent Students Union-Revolutionary.

Gyanendra Karki, a spokesperson of KMC stated that the mayor told the student leaders that improving the quality of education in public schools would also end imbalance in the education sector.

In the end, the unions had also demanded the KMC to take action against schools that overcharging students.
