Morang locals illuminate villages

Pathari (Morang), November 20, 2015: Happiness of Upendra BK at Warangi VDC in the district knew no bounds when his house has recently been powered with electricity generated from 10 kilowatts hydropower project in the village.

Construction of the hydropower project has recently been completed with the total cost of around Rs 6.3 million collected from the local people and funded by some organisations.

The project has been set up at local Takchuwa river, around three kilometers away from the villages.

The project is aimed at illuminating a total of 130 households in the villages and that 50 houses at Warangi VDC-9 have been powered in its first phase, local people said.

The Alternative Energy Promotion Center funded more than Rs 1. 3 million, while the District Development Committee, Morang, provided Rs 700,000 in the construction.

Likewise, local people said that they collected the rest Rs 4.3 miillion, while contributing labour as well. RSS
